Holiday Food Needed

Help Interfaith Outreach & Community Partners stock its shelves again for the holidays! Next time you’re at the grocery store, please consider purchasing an extra bag of groceries with any of the following items. Donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

· 10-12 lb. Frozen Turkey

· Canned nuts, crackers or other nonperishable appetizers

· Bag/Box of stuffing mix

· Sweet potatoes

· Gravy or gravy packets

· Cranberries

· Potatoes

· Flour, sugar and cooking oil (for all the extra baking over the holidays)

· Muffin or roll mix

Pancakes for Peter at the Countryside Café

Peter Larson, a senior at Wayzata High School, is sleeping out for his 12th and final year to support IOCP. Stop by the Countryside Café and order pancakes through Dec. 31, mention Peter’s name and a donation will be made to IOCP on his behalf.

Harvest Moon “Round Up”

Between now and Dec. 31, shop at Harvest Moon Natural Foods in Long Lake (next to Otten Brothers) and round up your purchase total to the nearest dollar. 100% of your “round up” will be donated to IOCP’s Sleep Out Campaign! Hours: Monday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-8 p.m.: Sunday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

Thanks to everyone’s support of CROPWALK we raised over $3,300 dollars as a congregation. We surpassed last year’s totals in terms of number of walkers (+1) and dollars raised (+700)! General Minister And President Named To Presidential Advisory Council

Sharon E. Watkins General Minister and President Sharon E. Watkins has been named to President Barack Obama's Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Watkins, who is among 25 faith and community leaders appointed to the Council, was in Washington, D.C. earlier this week to attend the group's first meeting.

"I am glad to be part of such a diverse group that is seeking common ground where we can make a real difference in the lives of people," said Watkins. "It's good to see the government connecting with faith-based and community organizations to help meet people's needs."

The Advisory Council is part of the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. In a press release from the White House, that office is described as "a resource for nonprofits and community organizations, both secular and faith based, looking for ways to make a bigger impact in their communities, learn their obligations under the law, cut through red tape, and make the most of what the federal government has to offer."
